We name our litters in alphabetical order so our first litter Annie's litter was a no brainer as 'we' the family (expect hubby) are massive Harry Potter fans, we first had Albus Higgins, then Aberforth, Andromeda and Arthur. Obvisouly these are kennel names and so it is up to the pup careres to decide on thier pet name. We kept Annie's kennel name as it just suited her but shouting Aberforth out to get your dog to recall is not really perfect. However, Arthur's people did keep Arthur which was sweet.
Higgins is the name of the father of the A litter and we always give the first born son a middle name of their father, as since their father live so far away we want to know they are still very special to us especailly A litter as Metchild (Higgins mum) was so very kind to us and helpful with this being our first litter.
Both Hubby and I love classical music and since he was 'encouraged' (he will use a different word' to have the Harry Potter theme for A litter we went with composers for the B litter, we deliberately avoided Beethoven as we knew that this was a well used name, so this litter we went with Bach Tsjerno, Berlioz (a girl), Brahms, Bartok Baxter and our beautiful Bliss.
Bliss now where do we start, she is a princess in her own right and her new people instead of keeping such a beautiful name called her Groot! who does that? and I still tease them to this day but to be honest, Groot actaully suits them just dont tell them I said it!
Usually you match the pup to the owner around weeks 4 - 6 but within a week I knew where Bartok was going he had an amazing larger than life character and his new home had already decided on a name either though they did not know which pup they were having so when we registered him he was registered under his kennel and pup name Bartok Baxter.
This section will be short but sweet as be only had a litter of two. Hubby played rugby when he was younger and then went to referring and then assessing refs. I had done various things around rugby and started to play later on, so it was natural to use rugby as a theme. The puppies were called Cotton and Catcheside Eiger, little Cotton's pup name became Coco as they picked her up around easter time which was really sweet.
Well D litter became a no brainer after the Covid debaracle that was and Eiger's dad helping out (Eiger being daddy), Dave is a scientist and school teacher, so we decided to name the puppies after scientists, with a little twist ;-)
We had Da Vinci Edison (as this was the second time we had visited Eiger we used his kennel name), Descrates, Dian, Doppler, Divoc Dave (after the lovely Dave) and Drix.
Dopplers family lived very close and were never really away from wekk 4 onwards and had already got a name for Doppler but in the end they kept with Doppler which suits him as he is clumsy so now we have.
Digger Bronson, Doppy Doppler, King Lui, Queen Ginny (Harry Potter nod there), Prince Leon and the one and only Princess Mara.
E Litter was very important to us as this was Lia's last litter and we wanted to get her boyfriend just right so we went to the Czech Republic, so we wanted to have a nod to her boyfriend Argo in the Czech, Emil Zatopek is a famour long distance runner so we went with that theme of long distance runners, as with all our litters a boy came out first Emil Argo, then we had Ennis,Elizabeth, Elvid, Eammon, Ed, Emelia, Elvid, Elvan and Emma....Lia will you slow down we are running out of names here! Emma went to a lovely family and kept hert name, we kept Elvan and Emelia, hubby named Emelia Emma and I named Elvan who had a green collar Arwen, upto you all to work out where I got that name from!
We already have a theme for F litter but thats all folks!
